The City is pleased to announce that, after a detailed procurement process in early 2026, including engagement with local pay parking users, the City has awarded a contract to Precise ParkLink Inc. to manage pay parking in Kamloops. The new contract will involve replacing current parking meters with updated models, implementing new technology to manage off-street parking lots, and introducing a new mobile app (Parkedin) that provides convenient parking payment options.
The transition to new parking meters and new technology will take place in May and June 2026. The major changes include:
- Hangtags for monthly parkers will be phased out, and online vehicle licence plate registrations will be required as of June 2026.
- PayByPhone app services will be phased out throughout June 2026 and replaced by the Parkedin app as of July.
On March 31, 2026, the Committee of the Whole received a report on parking management and rates, which included a proposal to implement a phased parking management plan over the next five years. The Committee of the Whole directed Administration to prepare a bylaw updating parking fees and charges, as outlined in the report. If adopted, those rate changes could come into effect as early as June 1. More engagement on parking in Kamloops can be expected as the parking management plan rolls out.
