The City of Kamloops is now accepting applications for election officials for the general local election on Saturday, October 17, 2026. All those interested in working at a polling location on election day are encouraged to apply.
With 16 polling locations around the community, the City is looking to hire around 250 election officials, including presiding election officials and alternate presiding election officials. Election officials are responsible for a variety of tasks, including registering voters, reviewing and confirming identification, and issuing ballots.
Each polling location needs one presiding election official and one alternate who oversees the overall conduct of their assigned voting place, supervises the election officials, and ensures the voting location is safe and accessible and all voting procedures are followed correctly.
“This is an excellent opportunity for people to get involved in their community and contribute to the democratic process,” said Alisha Beday, the City’s Chief Election Officer. “Our elections wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated election officials we’re so fortunate to work with every four years.”
On general voting day, each polling location will be open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, and election officials will receive training in the morning before polls open. Presiding election officials and alternate presiding election officials will be required to attend a separate training session on an evening leading up to the election.
Election officials will receive a stipend for their work, which will be paid after general voting day.
Application forms will be reviewed on an ongoing basis until all positions are filled. The City will also be looking for individuals to serve as election officials for the advance voting days from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on:
