Canada Day at Riverside Park

Release Date

The City invites residents to its biggest community event of the year at the annual Canada Day celebration on July 1 in Riverside Park. Enjoy culture, arts, music, FIFA World Cup™ soccer, and fun.

Canada Day in the park will start with the Lions Club pancake breakfast from 7:00 to 10:30 am. The main event will kick off at the Rotary Bandshell at 11:00 am, starting with the multicultural flag parade, followed by Drumming Canada at 11:30 am, and the opening ceremony beginning at 11:40 am.

Discover local artisans, enjoy multicultural programming and food, cool off in the beer garden, take the kids to play on inflatables, and enjoy a wide range of performances. The day will be capped off with the return of a fireworks show at dusk (weather permitting). For the best view, attendees are encouraged to watch the fireworks from the Rivers Trail in Riverside Park.

Art in the Park will be located at the west end of the park near the Rose Garden. The multicultural programming and food vendors will be in the middle section of the park, and the Family Zone will be at the east end near Sandman Centre. Music and dance performances can be enjoyed on various stages throughout the park.

New and unique for this year, all FIFA World Cup™ matches will be shown on a large screen at the Rotary Bandshell in Riverside Park. The schedule for July 1 includes three Round of 32 matches – England vs Democratic Republic of the Congo at 9:00 am, Belgium vs Senegal at 1:00 pm, and Bosnia and Herzegovina vs the United States of America at 5:00 pm. Find match details on the Tourism Kamloops website

Canada Day also kicks off Music in the Park, with performances by Wild One (mixed rock) and Paisley Groove (groovy rock) following the 5:00 pm soccer match.
To help plan your day, an interactive online map of the park, outlining Art in the Park artisans, Multicultural Society booths, Family Zone activities, community vendors, beer garden, and entertainment, is available at Kamloops.ca/CanadaDay.

Attendees are encouraged to help reduce landfill waste by bringing a water bottle and a tote bag for collecting swag and purchases from community booths and Art in the Park vendors.

BC Transit is offering free transit on July 1, operating with Saturday-level service. Alternatively, attendees should consider carpooling or using alternative transportation and leaving their bike or e-scooter with the Kamloops Bike Valet, which will be available at the tennis courts, near the west end of the park.

The City thanks the Kamloops Arts Council and the Kamloops Multicultural Society for organizing the Canada Day festivities, the British Columbia Lottery Corporation for sponsoring the event, and the Government of Canada for funding the event.
