Community Art Grant

Now accepting 2025 online applications for the Community Art Grant. Applications are due by 4:00 pm on Friday, April 4, 2025.

This grant is available for projects promoting development and awareness of the arts in our community. A diverse and well-rounded cultural community seeks the involvement of artists at all levels: amateur, emergent, and professional. Priority will be given to those creative initiatives that function as a catalyst for great community involvement in the arts.

Criteria

Any non-profit organization may apply for these funds. Non-profit organizations whose regular activities do not normally include artistic production are encouraged to collaborate with artists or arts organizations. On-going operational funding will not be provided through this program.

Initiatives applied for must be able to be completed within 12 months of receiving funding.

Funds/Budgets

  • The organization applying for funds must provide one-third of the project funding from other sources.
  • Applicants may apply for funds up to $10,000. Realistic budgets must be presented.
  • Funds may be allocated to successful projects at varying stages of completion, e.g.:
    • one-third upon starting the project
    • one-third upon substantial completion
    • one-third upon completion

  • The City of Kamloops reserves the right to withhold or withdraw funding from projects that are not seen to be fulfilling the application mandate. 

Application Requirements

Submission criteria will include:

  • a one or two-page description of the proposed project, including:
    • names of participants to be involved
    • timelines for successful completion
    • details of how your project will impact the community
    • detailed budget
    • two references

In cases where the City allocates significant funds, a "Schedule of Payment and Reporting" may be negotiated with the recipient. The City may request additional information to assist in its deliberations, which might include:

  • Development Plan
  • Revised Budgets 

If your grant application is successful, you will be required to provide the City of Kamloops with a written evaluation of the project within 90 days of the completion of your project. You must relate outcomes to initial objectives and the final budget. Failure to complete and submit this evaluation may impact subsequent applications.

2024 Reporting Procedure

The 2024 Community Arts Grant evaluation report is due by March 14, 2025.
