BC Festival of the Arts Legacy Fund Application

The City of Kamloops aims to provide financial assistance to Kamloops individuals or groups for development, presentation, or competition in the various fields of the visual, performing, literary, media, and interdisciplinary arts.

Criteria 

Grant applications should fall under one of the following categories:

  • Personal Development: To help further the artistic development of an individual or single organization. 
  • Community Development: To support community artistic development through initiatives such as workshops, master classes, and seminars. 
  • Travel Assistance: To provide travel assistance to individuals attending or participating in important cultural events outside of the Kamloops region.

Policy

Grants from the BC Festival of the Arts Legacy Fund range up to a maximum of $600, subject to availability of funds. Groups may receive only one grant per calendar year. Individuals are not eligible for funding in consecutive years.

In order to be eligible, each applicant must submit a completed application form and be accompanied by:

  1. A description of the project, event, or workshop and how it will benefit the community of Kamloops (maximum three pages)
  2. A resume or short biography on you or the organization of activities and experience in your given art form
  3. A statement of revenue and expenses
  4. Two reference letters from individuals from within his/her respective art field who could comment, if asked, on the applicant and/or project

The amount of the grant will not exceed one-third of the project's total cost, up to a $600 maximum. If your grant application is successful, upon completion of your project (within six weeks), you will be required to provide the City of Kamloops with a written evaluation of the project. It is important that you relate outcomes to initial objectives and final budget. If you do not submit this evaluation, it could impact future applications.

Deadlines

Applications will be reviewed three times a year by the Arts and Culture Engagement Group. Deadlines for applications are:

  1. January 15
  2. May 15
  3. September 15

Applicants will be notified by mail approximately six weeks after application deadline.

NOTE: Your application will be evaluated by the Arts and Culture Engagement Group. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated and will be returned to the applicant.

Reporting Procedures

If your grant application is successful, you will be required to provide the City of Kamloops with a written evaluation of the project with 90 days of the completion of your project. Failure to complete and submit this evaluation may impact subsequent applications.
