Business Licensing

All businesses, including home-based businesses, require a Business Licence issued by the City. Business Licences are issued to applicants that are in compliance with City regulations, which vary by the type of business being conducted. Business Licence renewal invoices are sent at the end of November each year. Payments are due by December 31.

Inter-Community Business Licence

If you have a mobile business and conduct business in two or more of the partner communities, you may be eligible for an Inter-Community Business Licence (ICBL). Partnering communities may include Barriere, Chase, Clearwater, Clinton, Kamloops, Lillooet, Logan Lake, Merritt, and Tk'émlúps te Secwépemc.

For more information about this program, please visit the Province of BC's Mobile Business Licence Program website.

An ICBL is a secondary business licence. To obtain an ICBL, you must first have a primary business licence in one of the partner communities. Apply for your ICBL through the community that issued your primary licence. For example, if your business is based in Chase, and you wish to conduct mobile business in Kamloops, you must apply for your ICBL through the Village of Chase.

To apply for an ICBL:

  • Businesses with a valid primary business licence - please submit a business licence application with your basic business information and indicate "ICBL" in the description of business to be conducted.
  • New businesses – please submit a fully completed business licence application and indicate “& ICBL” at the end of your description of business to be conducted.
